The three year BA is attained once the student has passed all the mandatory and elective courses within the study programme that they had selected, and have gained 180 ECTS credits. Upon graduation, the students will receive the title of Bachelor of Laws.
During the course of the first year, only mandatory courses are taught. Elective courses become available from the second year onwards. This allows our students to gain a solid foundation in the legal profession, but also allows them to study parts of the law that they are most interested in and for which there is a higher demand. Such a structure enables them to pursue their studies further and become specialists in a particular area of the Law.
Types of teaching
Teaching is done through lectures and practice sessions. In addition, within the framework of certain courses, the students are given an opportunity to work as interns at courts, state institutions, lawyers’ offices, scientific institutions and legal clinics. Our students take part in moot trials, i.e. making different decisions which give them an opportunity to implement and check the knowledge they acquired during particular courses. The students are taught legal skills but also how to write legal acts. And finally, they are encouraged to think independently by producing written papers with the help and individual support of their mentors. All these activities are mandatory before a student is allowed to sit an exam.
