Joseph Huynh is a Resident Legal Advisor (RLA) of the U.S. Department of Justice at U.S Embassy Belgrade. RLA Huynh oversees the Criminal Justice Reform and Rule of Law Program that focuses broadly on the reform of criminal justice system, with particular focus on prosecutorial training, development of criminal justice institutions, and reform of judiciary.  His top substantive priorities include criminal procedure code, criminal code, organized crime, counterterrorism, and judicial efficiency and transparency in criminal proceedings. 

 Mr. Huynh has been at Embassy Belgrade since November 2013.  He graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Sociology.  He graduated from Yale Law School in 2000.  He clerked for Judge James Lawrence King in the Southern District of Florida, served as an Assistant US Attorney for the Southern District of California, worked as an associate for Covington & Burling LLP in Washington D.C. and served as an Assistant US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida prosecuting international drug trafficking and organized crime. He also served as the Chief of the Narcotics section in the Central District and, most recently, as the deputy chief of the Narcotic and Dangerous Drugs Section at the Department of Justice.
